Driving Off with the Gas PumpA Sneak Peek at SATC Last night, Splendora Allison and I were lucky enough to attend an early preview of the SATC movie. With such an insane amount of publicity leading up to the movie, our anticipation to see it was just as high, leaving both of us to have expectations on the lower side; seriously, how great can a TV-show-turned-movie be? Well, girls, I have good news--SATC did not disappoint whatsoever. There was plenty of realistic drama, surprises that left your mouth agape and of course a plethora of high-end fashion that will make you ooh and ahh (and second guess Carrie's fashion choices of course). Overall the movie garnered smiles & laughs from the audience and its apparent the writers took time developing a worthwhile, realistic story for all four main characters considering its been three years since we last left the crew. And of course, the main, underlying theme is the importance of having girlfriends. On a sidenote: I would like to sincerely thank the four men who helped us in changing my very flat tire after the movie. Allison & I were stranded on the side of the road, heels and all, when passerbys offered to change my tire in five minutes flat. Good karma to good samaritans. Photo: Our SATC prom pic Love It or Hate It? Summer MoccasinsLately I've been seeing a ton of celebrities sporting moccasin boots in warm weather. Usually reserved for cold weather/snow, I'm still trying to figure out whether I'm gung ho for mixing things up or just plain perplexed as to this trend. What's your take? Rachel Bilson wearing summer moccasins in 85-degree L.A. weather The Police in ConcertI've attended a ton of great concerts but I have to say last night's Police concert ranks in my top five of all time. Sure, the third row floor tickets helped out in a major way but acoustically, the concert was amazing. This is the first tour in years the band has all played together and supposedly the last tour ever for them which made it that more special. Sting's voice was superb and never once was I disappointed by his eerily calm way to get the crowd riled up with his guitar rifts and tantalizing voice (I was not in any way paying attention to his mesh see-through shirt by the way). Overall I give the concert an A- grade, with them only garnering a 'minus' for their tad bit short on-stage concert time. A photo I took last night of Sting at the concert OMG, Have You Seen Bret Michaels' New Music Video?! This was an IM sent early this morning verbatim to Gina as I typed away, mouth agape in shock. I'll admit, I watched many epiosdes of VH1's Rock of Love show so I'm somewhat familiar with Bret's style but if you want a shortened version check out his new video, Go That Far. You'll get three minutes of Bret singing seductively into a mike, coupled with clips from the actual show; think of it as a 'best of' reel of girls in barely there bikinis sliding down stripper poles, making out with Bret, kissing one another, etc. The lyrics are horribly hilarious..."I'll be your sugar daddy, I'll be your diamond rings, I'll get you off..." I'll give Bret credit for staying consistent with his fashion style..torn jeans, cowboy boots, smudged black eyeliner and those awful bandanas covering his "hair". See a picture of Bret without his bandana here. Surcharges Galore
With gas prices soaring, it's not surprising that prices for air transportation are exponentially being hiked up but charging for a single piece of checked luggage? And charging extra for unaccompanied minors?! Plain strange. Yep, American Airlines just announced that they are upping charges on both of these items ($15 for your first bag checked, $25 for your second one). One thing is fare increases but I think the second one is absurd; how does an accompanied minor deem a surcharge on the passenger? What will be next?
A True NorCal Girl Having grown up in San Diego, where the motto is 'the city with the best weather', I've always been irked by SoCal's incessant great weather and often wondered how I could have ended up in foggy San Francisco. However, it's days like these (SF is currently experiencing an extreme heat wave with temps in the 90s) where I really appreciate where I live. With the sun ablazing and the temperatures soaring, this city is off the hook. Half the workforce is suddenly, violently "ill" and rooftops are filled with sun worshipers midday. We rarely, I repeart rarely get multiple days of such beautiful, cloudless, hot weather. But when we do, we appreciate it immensely. Coupled with yesterday's Supreme Court overturn of the gay marriage ban, this uber liberal, gay-friendly city is crazy happy. You can just sense it in the air. Go SF!!!
Heat Loving Happiness at Splendora HQ Us Splendoritas are working away on this week's Newsletter at our San Francisco HQ, but today we are all fancied up in our sundresses and sandals to celebrate NorCal's heat wave (85-95 degrees in The City alone the next couple days). This makes us gals, so accustomed to SF's fog and haze very elated. Also, we were pleased to figure out that ALL our stylish dresses are very affordable. From L to R: Old Navy, TJ Maxx, Target, Forever 21.
